How to become a ...Katina

Complex why would you try? How to become a Katina? Be as crazy as you can be, times five. Laugh till you cry and cry till you laugh. Feel. Think about things too much sometimes or even think about things too little. Confusing, complicated, stressed, yet always relaxed. SMILEY/OUTGOING/PASSIONATE. Katina. Wake up 7:30 in the morning, roll out of bed, curly frizzy blonde hair clouding your vision. You jump out of bed and turn off the most annoying but only ringtone on your phone that can wake you up in the morning. "Hips swing" . Of course your kitten Lola is at your feet meowing and nibbling on your toes for food. What a fatcat. You look briefly out your window checking the forecast; pitch black. You sigh. Brush your teeth, comb your hair, and pick out some trendy ensamble to wear all daydreaming on that little cloud you sit on until 9 o'clock. Check the time...7:20 ...rush to the car, put on your gloves because the stearing wheel is about -27 degrees. Lovely. Pump up techno to wake your daze and you're off. Off to the raceways, off to conquer to world, and create the solution to world peace, off to gym. Off to gym because you failed it last semester. Neglectful and irresponsible! Your new nicknames from your mother. Ah beautiful. Car parking lot full so you get the last to last parking space. You trudge your way to the side door because every other door is locked. Teachers enjoy torturing students.
Gym goes by fast. Then economics. You can never understand this class. Demand vs supply, common sense! The words on the board look right, correct yet on paper, it's all greek to me. Funny. you're Greek. Greek school drop-out of course. Never succeeding in anything but you do like to write. You do like to sing. You sing in the car on your off periods, no one really sees. You blast the music so you can't hear your voice, but your not bad. Your friends are worse. They sound like nails on a chalkboard, if only they knew! You sing and sing till your voice goes hoarse. People ask why you lost your voice... "Screaming I guess?" is always the response.

Your friends call and you meet up. You laugh and discuss how everyone in the world sucks but you and your friends. Everyone feels perfect for that one moment and then our lives get split apart. By boys. We are older things have changed. Friendship ties are just as strong yet losing vitality. Losing grip on what is real. Losing laughter and love, and everything that made us friends. You barely see your friends, but when you do, the past becomes the future and its like nothing has changed. But you know. You know it has and you know its ok. You wonder how the future will pan out but then you realize you are being too sentimental and forget the thought. You live for the moment, and whoever cannot live with that cannot be associated with you. You live for your friends, your boyfriend, your family, and your kitty Lola. You look down at the millions of scratches on your hand. You laugh. Lola. SHE'S A BEAST, A LITTLE MENACE! But you wouldn't know what to do would do without her silly cat mumblejumble that comes out of her mouth or that silly faces she makes when she sneezes. You cannot sleep without her little nose nussled next to your face. Her soft purrs always put you to sleep. Lola Scudder. Crazy just like you times five.

Book Reaction#1

Katina Scudder
Responding to Lit per 3

I would have to say that so far, my book is quite interesting to read. It's not something that I can't stop reading but when I get bored I've been picking it up once in a while. My book is the pre-quel story to the previous GossipGirl collection. It takes place in New York, NY. The whole book is based upon these very spoiled young teenagers attending their sophmore year within uni-sex schools. The main characters are Blair Waldorf, Nate Archibald, and Serena van der Woodsen who are all terribly close friends and seem to be attached by the hip. At this point in their lives, these teens are ready to embark in the social scene and basically party. There is a very dilemma that has occured; Blair and Serena have both fallen in love with their best friend Nate. They both are secretely in love with him and think about him almost every second of the day. It was really interesting to read how they both are so obsessed with him and get jealous of eachothers encounters with Nate. They both have fantasies of moving miles and miles away with Nate and being deeply in love together. Deep down, Blair, and Serena are innocent girls just trying to find love. As for Blair, she's a bit blunt, picky, and to be honest I don't really like her character. She makes the book a bit annoying to read sometimes because this girl is obnoxiously out of her mind and very self-centered. Serena on the other hand is more sociably and kind. She is drop dead gorgeous and she knows this but she is very modest in that sense opposite her bestfriend.
I haven't totally completed this novel but I intend on accomplishing that this week and I hope that Nate either falls in love with Serena and works that out because Blair is an obnoxious annoying persona and I do not know any guy who would tolerate her. There is also another character who falls in between these teens randevous. I am not sure yet how she is connected to this story but her name is Vanessa who is completely opposite to the gorgeously perfect Nate, the wealthy and beautiful Blair, and of course the model-perfect Serena van der Woodsen. She's an artsy and modest type of gal. She loves photography and hates school. Unfortunately for her, she has to attend the ultimate snobby/ ritzy all girls school with both Blair and Serena. I left off when Serena had finally sneaked a kiss in with Nate as they're having a sleepover with Blair. I hope things get juicier so I can enjoy this book more!

Pro-reading

I personally enjoy reading. I wouldn't say I love to read, but I enjoy it. Due to the technology obsessed era I live in, many teenagers hate to read except for me. Maybe it's the fact that I have never read a bad book. I am very open minded when it comes to reading as well, but then again, I am a very open minded person. I love mystery but I am open to other genres. I like trying new things, reading new types of genres I have never read, anything to keep my mind awake and active. Unfortunately, some books have only one purpose and that is to bore you. I am aware of this, that is why I have a little procedure to figure out whether a book is headaching quality or interesting litature.
At first, I scim books in order to distinguish whether or not this book is going to bore me to death and then I either toss it or keep it. It's as simple as that. Finding a good book is quite a task, but the reward is what matters. I love when a book captures me because I'll never be able to put it down. If I am really intrigued by a book, I can finish it pretty quickly, I would say a week tops. When I mean I can't put it down, I sincerely mean it. The best feeling is when you are only a couple pages away from the ending and although you really don't want it to end, you are so eager to find out what that final page is all about. When I was little, I would always spoil the story and read the endings but I have learned that doing that is very childish and ruins the whole book. Every little detail helps satisfy and build up to the ending. Some books are so detailed and tasteful, I don't understand how people can hate reading. I feel that people who hate reading must have had a very bad experience reading a sucky book in their past. I would tell these anti-readers, not to give up reading and that reading can be a wonderful past-time activity rather than burning your brain cells away watching MTV for hours on end.
